What is Annapurna Bhandar Scheme :-

The State Government has launched the ‘Annapurna Bhandar Scheme’ starting June 2026 with the aim of economically empowering women by addressing gender discrimination and inequality, ensuring sustained improvements in health and nutrition, promoting economic self-reliance and empowerment, and strengthening their decision-making role within the family. Under this scheme, women in West Bengal will receive financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month, effective from July 1, 2026.

Annapurna Bhandar Eligibility Criteria

• The applicant must be a woman who is a resident of West Bengal.
• She must be at least 25 years old and below 60 years of age.
• For married women, the minimum age should be 25 years as of 1 January of the calendar year in which the application is submitted.
• Widowed, divorced, and abandoned (deserted) women are also eligible to apply under the scheme.
• Women working in temporary government positions, such as Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers, are also eligible to apply.

Annapurna Bhandar note Eligibility Criteria

• woman whose family has a current or former Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson of any board, corporation, or authority under the Government of India or any State Government.
• Women who are residents of states other than West Bengal are not eligible.

Annapurna Bhandar Scheme Provisions

• The name of the scheme shall be “Annapurna Bhandar Assistance Scheme.
• Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries will receive financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month.
• The provisions of the scheme shall come into effect from the date of issuance of the official notification.
• The benefits under the scheme shall be provided only to eligible women.

How to apply offline for the Annapurna Bhandar Yojana

• The entire application process will be free of charge.
• Applications submitted through an Anganwadi center will use the center’s login ID.
• Applications submitted at the Gram Panchayat level will use the login ID of the Village/Gram Panchayat Secretary (Village In-charge).
• Applications can also be submitted through the Project Office of the Women and Child Development Department using the project-level login ID.

Approval Letter for Eligible Beneficiaries under the Annapurna Bhandar Yojana

Issuance of Approval Letter: Once the final list is prepared, the Village Secretary or Ward In-charge will issue an approval letter to the eligible beneficiary, confirming their inclusion in the scheme. This list will also be displayed on the portal.
Payment to Beneficiary: The payment will be made directly to the eligible beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked, DBT-enabled bank account. The female applicant must possess an Aadhaar-linked, DBT-enabled bank account in her own name.

Annapurna Bhandar Yojana Monitoring and Review

A dedicated State Monitoring and Implementation Unit (SPMU) will be established within the Directorate of the Women and Child Development Department to oversee the scheme’s implementation and ensure continuous monitoring; the associated expenditure will be charged to the scheme. The SPMU will play a pivotal role in ensuring the scheme’s effectiveness and its transparent, successful implementation. Its responsibilities will include supporting program planning and design; monitoring software development and implementation; overseeing software operations and maintenance; managing and analyzing centralized beneficiary data; capacity building and training; establishing and managing feedback mechanisms; risk management; and handling tasks related to external agencies—such as drafting tenders for services like software development, data entry, and call centers, and monitoring the work of these agencies.
