Bihar Post matric Scholarship 2026 : The online registration, application, approval, and scholarship disbursement process under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for the 2026–27 academic session is being initiated for students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) categories. In this regard, the department has issued detailed guidelines along with the official schedule for the implementation of the scheme.
This scholarship scheme is applicable to eligible students studying in government and private ITIs, colleges, universities, engineering colleges, medical colleges, nursing colleges, polytechnic institutes, District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), and other higher educational institutions across the state of Bihar.
The Assistant Commissioner, Tribal Development, announced that the last date for submitting new and renewal online applications under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme is 30 August 2026. He stated that if eligible students are deprived of the scholarship because the required procedures are not completed within the prescribed deadline, the concerned educational institutions will be held responsible.
Bihar Post Matric Scholarship overview
The Aadhaar-based Post Matric Scholarship will be disbursed through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). While applying, students must ensure that their savings bank account is active, linked with Aadhaar, and that they provide their Aadhaar-seeded bank account details. They must also enter the mobile number registered with their Aadhaar during the application process.
For the 2026–27 academic session, students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) categories are required to obtain a One-Time Registration (OTR) through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Detailed instructions regarding the OTR process are available on the State Scholarship Portal, and the concerned educational institutions will provide the necessary guidance and assistance to students.
The Bihar government has launched several scholarship schemes aimed at encouraging promising students in the state to pursue their education. This year (2018), the government has doubled the scholarship amount to provide greater financial support to students for continuing their studies. The state government has introduced a new scholarship scheme for students belonging to the SC, ST, and OBC categories. Under this scheme, scholarships will be provided to students enrolled in technical, ITI, and nursing institutions. Additionally, students studying in technical institutions will also benefit from this scheme. Bihar Eligibility criteria for the Post-Matric Scholarship 2026
Minimum Eligibility Criteria The applicant
- Must belong to the SC/ST Community.
- Must be studying in a recognized Institution/School/College/University or recognized technical institution of the District for which she/he is applying.
Eligibility for Pre-Matric Scholarship (Classes 6 to 10 – Central/State Schemes)
- The student must be a resident of Bihar state.
- The student must possess a caste certificate.
- Parents/guardians must not fall within the income tax bracket, or they must not own more than 10 acres of land.
- The annual income of parents/guardians must not exceed ₹3 lakh.
Eligibility for Pre-Matric Scholarship (Classes 11 to 12 – Central/State Schemes)
- The student must be a resident of Bihar state.
- The student must possess a caste certificate.
- Parents/guardians must not fall within the income tax bracket, or they must not own more than 10 acres of land.
- The annual income of parents/guardians must not exceed ₹3 lakh.
- The annual income of parents/guardians must not exceed ₹1.00 lakh (for OBC students only).

- The student must be a resident of Bihar state.
- The student must possess a caste certificate.
- The student must possess a Fee Receipt
- Parents/guardians must not fall within the income tax bracket, or they must not own more than 10 acres of land.
- The annual income of parents/guardians must not exceed ₹3 lakh.
- The annual income of parents/guardians must not exceed ₹1.00 lakh (for OBC students only).

- Log In: After registration, log in using your credentials (login details).

6.Document Upload: Three essential documents required by the department in the scholarship DBT process are Cast Certificate, Domicile certificate and Income certificate. The student should upload these documents by the screen below.
7.Lock Screen: This is the screen to final and last step to finalize the all essential and required information in the online scholarship DBT process. After finalization the student cannot change any information that was previously fielded by the student. So Before clicking on the lock button students should carefully cake all the entries and then click for Lock application.

Bihar Scholarship Important Instructions – For Students
- Only income and caste certificates are required for the application.
- The course year will be selected automatically based on the academic session.
- Aadhaar seeding verification is mandatory. Applications cannot be finalized if the student’s Aadhaar is not seeded with their bank account for DBT; finalization will only occur after Aadhaar seeding is completed.
- Ensure your Aadhaar is linked to the correct bank account for DBT; otherwise, the scholarship amount will not be credited to your account.
- The income certificate must be issued on or after 01-04-2026.
- The caste certificate must be valid for the period spanning the last two academic sessions up to the current academic session.
- Required documents must be valid for the period between 01-04-2026 and 31-03-2027.
- Information regarding the application status will be communicated via SMS. If the SMS is not received for any reason, students should regularly log in to the PMS portal to check their application status and make necessary corrections within the stipulated timeframe.
- The scholarship amount will be released only after the uploaded income and caste certificates are verified.
- If errors or discrepancies are found in the uploaded documents, log in to update the correct document details and re-upload the documents.
- Three opportunities will generally be provided to rectify errors or address issues leading to potential rejection. If errors remain uncorrected after these attempts, the application will be rejected.
- If a student is already availing benefits from another scholarship scheme for the same course and academic session, their PMS application will be rejected.
- If an error is found in a student’s application, it is mandatory to make the necessary corrections and re-finalize the application within 15 days. The application will not be rejected for the purpose of making corrections and finalizing it within the stipulated period.
